Solutions Exchange represents a new way for departments and suppliers to come together in an informal environment and discuss ideas and challenges. For departments it is a quick and easy way to conduct pre-market engagement and encourage innovation and diversity in the supplier base.
Solutions Exchange allows Government to put problems to the market, for which it is not yet ready to procure a solution.
For Government users, Solutions Exchange provides a quick and easy way to conduct pre-market engagement and encourage innovation and diversity in the supplier base. It’s a new way to find out what the market has to offer by setting challenges for which Government is not yet ready to procure a solution, and ask for their ideas and solutions so that really innovative ideas find their way more quickly into the services it delivers for the taxpayer.
Government users are encouraged to get involved in the discussion prompted by their challenge, and ask questions or offer additional insights that may be useful to the suppliers. They can, and should, also get involved in Supplier lead Themes and join the discussion.
Smaller companies have often said that one of the hardest things about winning Government contracts is breaking into Government in the first place. Solutions Exchange offers an easy, informal way for suppliers to find out about emerging opportunities (via Challenges) and pitch innovative ideas (via Themes) free of charge.
As well as directly posting responses to Government challenges, Suppliers are encouraged to engage in discussions in the threads, ask questions and offer comments or suggestions. They can also start their own thread in the Theme section and use it to start a discussion about possible future public sector needs and pitch their own innovative, cost saving, proposals direct to Government.
